The 10 most Cancer causing Foods
Now, during summer time we all will enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables. I do not have any intentions to
spoil your summer fest, but some information that I am going to present may be helpful.
I would discuss 10 most unhealthy, cancer-causing foods– never eat these again.
1. Genetically modified organisms ( GMO) It should be clear that GMO have no legitimate place
in any cancer– free diet, especially now that GMO and chemicals used to grow them have been
shown to cause rapid tumor growth. But GMOs are almost everywhere, including most food
derivatives made from conventional corn, soybeans and canola. You can avoid them by buying
organically, naturally grown local produce not altered by biotechnology.
2. Processed meats. Most processed meat products including lunch meats, bacon, sausage, and
hot dogs contain chemical preservatives that make them look good and stay fresh longer, but
can cause cancer. Both sodium nitrate and sodium nitrite have been linked to significantly
increasing risk of colon cancer and other cancers. It is better to use uncured meats without any
preservatives, you can find them is some stores.
3. Microwave popcorn. They may be convenient, but those bags of microwave popcorn are lined
with chemicals that are linked to causing not only infertility but liver, testicular and pancreatic
cancers. The US Environmental Protection Agency ( EPA) recognizes chemical lining popcorn
bags as likely carcinogenic and several independent studies have linked the chemical to causing
4. Soda pop. Like processed meats, soda pop has been shown to cause cancer. Beside this it is
loaded with sugar, food chemicals and colorings. Common soda pop chemical- caramel color
and its derivative also specifically have been linked to causing cancer.
5. Diet foods and beverages. Diet soda even worse than conventional soda since it has artificial
sweeteners such as aspartame, splenda- both cause cancer, aspartame may also cause birth
6. Refined white flour. Refined white flour is a common ingredient in processed foods and its
excess carbohydrate content is a serious cause of concern. A study published in the journal
Cancer Epidemiology found that regular consumption of the refined carbohydrates has linked to
220 percent increase in breast cancer among women. High glycemic foods have been shown to
rapidly increase blood sugar level, which directly effects growth and spread of cancer cells.
7. Refined sugar. The same goes for refined sugars which have tendency to rapidly increase insulin
production and feed the cancer cells. Fructose rich sweeteners as HFCS-high fructose corn
sweetener are especially offensive since cancer cells have been shown to quickly and rapidly
metabolize them in order to proliferate. And since cookies, cakes, soda, juices, cereals, sauces,
and most processed foods are loaded with high fructose corn syrup it is understandable why
cancer rates are on the rise today.
8. Conventional apples, grapes and other dirty fruits. Many people think that they
are eating healthy when they buy apples, peaches, grapes, nectarines or strawberries from the store.
But unless these fruits are organic or indicated pesticide –free they may be a major cancer risk. The
Environmental Working Group (EWG) found that 98% of all conventional produce, especially “dirty
dozen” is contaminated with cancer causing pesticides.
9. Farmed salmon. Farmed salmon is another high risk cancer food, according to Dr.
David Carpenter, Director of the Institute for Health and Environment at the University of Albany.
According to his assessment, farmed salmon not only lacks vitamin D, but also contaminated with
carcinogenic chemicals, PCBs, (polychlorinated biphenyls), flame retardants and pesticides.
10.Hydrogenated oils. They are commonly used to preserve processed foods and keep them longer
on the shelf. But hydrogenated oils alter the structure and flexibility of cell membrane through
the body which can lead to a host of debilitating diseases such as cancer. Some manufacturers
stop using hydrogenated oils and replaced them with palm oil and other healthy alternatives.
It looks like no healthy food left, but if you are ready to take responsibility for your own health you
will find ways to buy good quality fruits and vegetables without cancer causing chemicals. Look for
local organic farms, some farms may be not officially organic, but their produce does not have
pesticides. Be your own vegetables supplier- grow your own veggies!
